Bio

Don Pritchett of Kansas City, Missouri.

For anyone that wants to know more about me, this is my bio page.

My name is Don Pritchett and I was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. When I grew up I was taught to love and appreciate art.  I took art classes throughout high school and afterwards took a job as a carpenter instead of pursuing a career in art. I have worked as a carpenter for almost 25 years, and for many years I forgot about my love for art. I’ve owned my own construction company for 18 years, and built homes all over the Kansas City area.  Recently, in the last few years, as the housing market has slowed, I’ve been forced to slow down.

I usually only take carpentry jobs that I can do by myself, and as a result of having more time available, I’ve rediscovered my love for art.

Another one of my passions is music.  I’ve played the bass guitar since I was 13 years old, and I play whenever I have the chance.

In the last year or so, I’ve started doing commissions which is something I really enjoy.  I now live In Liberty, MO, which is north of Kansas City.  I’m 44 years old and I have two beautiful daughters who also love art and music.

Most of my art is done in pencil because details are very important to me. I feel pencil allows me to show better detail in my work. It’s important to me because it seems like people never slow down enough and take time to look at the details of life around them.
